Optician — Optometric Physicians of Middle Tennessee

Optometric Physicians of Middle Tennessee is seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented optician to join its team. The optician helps patients select and fit eyewear for optimal vision, works across both the retail and clinical sides of the practice, and plays a central role in delivering exceptional customer service while following industry standards and regulations.

Duties include helping patients choose eyewear based on their needs, preferences, and prescriptions; fitting and adjusting eyeglasses and contact lenses for proper fit and comfort; maintaining accurate patient records, including medical billing and coding, in compliance with HIPAA; explaining lens, frame, and contact lens options; collaborating with optometrists and other healthcare professionals on comprehensive patient care; managing eyewear inventory and supplies, including ordering and restocking; educating patients on eyewear care and the importance of regular eye exams; and keeping up with the latest eyewear technology and fashion.

Previous experience as an optician or in a related field is preferred. Knowledge of ophthalmic medical terminology is essential, and familiarity with medical coding, billing, and medical records is highly desirable, along with a strong understanding of HIPAA. OPMT is looking for excellent communication and customer service skills, the ability to work in both retail and clinical settings, and a passion for helping others achieve optimal vision health. Proficiency in taking vital signs is a plus but not required.
